Alison and Alexis continue their talk. Has Alison figured out Alexis' problem, though? Has Alexis gained an obsession that is making her feel like she likes her brother?
I really think Alison should finish her diagnosis with a repetition of the line "I am not a psychologist" and stress that Alexis should talk to a professional about this. PTSD, abuse, trauma... this is not something anyone can speak confidently on unless they are a professional in the field. Even if Alison has seen some shit and is familiar with it. So it's good that she provided context at the beginning where it is most needed, but the "you clearly have PTSD" line is a bit worrisome (especially coming immediately after that context!).
My guess is that Alison is correct in her assessment, or at least correct enough to go on, so, no harm, no foul. But one could easily see someone trusted and knowledgeable accidentally giving incorrect advice, or, someone nefarious giving intentionally damaging advice. I can imagine someone telling Alexis that she's a pervert, forcing her to be even more self-critical about who and what she is... and, if she's already worried about this, that bias may cause her to latch onto it much more strongly than the calm, sage wisdom of a much more experienced friend. And it is really, really hard to change a mind that is afraid of being changed...
Anyway, that turned into a bit of a rant. In for two cents, in for a pound, or something like that.
That is completely understandable. Alexis definitely would like to see a professional about this, but that was covered at the end of Chapter 9 as well, where Elisa stated she simply can't afford a therapist right now due to everything going on.
That said, Alexis and Elisa will be moving in with Rosalia and Alison in a month. They'll have more money, and that means more ability to help her. Alexis just has to hold out a while longer.
