Alexis awakens the next morning to find Adrian cuddling her. She has a moment of insight as well.
That said, I wanted to take a second to mention what Alexis here mentions, about liking her brother. This is the big dilemma of this chapter. Is it possible to gain feelings for a sibling? Is Alexis actually finding herself liking Adrian or is she gaining some sort of obsession over him? It's a topic I was unsure how to handle, and even now, while we're running this, I'm concerned about how people will feel about this. All I can say is, I'm sorry if this makes you uncomfortable. This is a bit of a weird topic that will have a positive ending.

Love is blind. The only thing that really matters with regards to love is whether or not someone understands what "love" is, because it's a surprisingly variable emotion, and two people who feel like they love each other can do so in very, very different ways. Sometimes disastrously so. A healthy relationship is one in which everyone understands where their love is coming from, and whether or not it is clouded by other things, such as low self-esteem, greed, abuse, lies, and so on.

The only reason incest is taboo is because the children of an incestuous relationship (and not just immediate family, but also close cousins) have a higher chance of genetic deformities. This is a well-understood, observable fact, and so it is a very good reason... to not have children with close family. Slippery slope to eugenics and all that, but if two perfectly healthy people decide to put off having kids until they're financially stable, why wouldn't two perfectly financially stable people put off having kids until they can be certain their genetics won't cause the child life-long health issues?

The heart wants what it wants. But don't play dice when it comes to your children. Do right by them. That's what it means to be a parent. And yes, you can be in a loving relationship and not have children. That's perfectly okay.

Anyway, thanks for coming to my TED talk.

I'd be careful describing this as a "relationship", per se. While Alexis may very well be in love with her brother, it doesn't imply that Adrian feels the same way back. In fact, my guess is that he doesn't, considering he was boasting before about how he's now engaged, and this could lead to the very dilemma of the chapter Emily's talking about as soon as Alexis vocalizes her feelings.
